Hallelujah Rain

DEEPER STILL...

I recorded a rough home version with pics of Bethlehem growing up for her graduation party. She loved it, and it was VERY helpful for my mama heart to look at the pics in context of the song. But as parents, we know what it means. We know the tears and insecurities, the struggles and, for Beth, also health issues. We know that those cute pictures in the video have so many joys and heartaches behind them. Some that only we will remember and hold onto.

But we don't own our kids. And with Beth, we found there were times when we didn't even know what was best for her. It was humbling. At one point, we had tried everything. And nothing was working. Beth was losing hope, and we were losing it too. We had exhausted our own solutions, and professionals had only taken us so far. I cried out to God for help. I listened. He whispered to my heart, "Every day, I want you to praise Me for what I have already done in Beth's life. I want you to praise Me for what I am doing now even the things under the surface that you can't see. And praise Me for what I am going to do for her, the things you see in my Word and my promises." At that point, it was hard to see. I tried it, though. Tried to write three new things in a journal each morning. Asked the rest of the family to do the same. Step by step, it starting to take shape... this journey of her recovery and freedom. The wonders we saw before our eyes showed us once again how powerful God is. How real and vital is His healing touch. How incredible the power of praise is when our enemy is trying to defeat us. He is GOD.

Like everyone, I don't always experience these types of results, and it can be hard. I sometimes have great loss and heartache and struggle with what God allows. Heartache can bring us closer to God, if we let it. But sometimes I don't have victory on something simply because I don't ask God what to do. Or I don't like what He says and don't do it. Whatever He says, it's worth it my friends. Every time.
Hallelujah Rain
You are like the rain
I remember when you
Fell from heaven into our arms
Hallelujah rain,
Splashing all around
The dryness in our
Self-preserving hearts, ahh...
Trickles turn to streams
Igniting desert colors
Reaching wide and deep
You're flowing strong, ahhh..
The lightning cuts through sometimes
And the thunder shakes your sky
But, hallelujah rain
You feed the ground you find,
Open weary eyes,
Giving life to life, like you have mine...
Not so long ago
You played for me your song
And tears flowed helpless
Down my face
The healing power of God
Fell upon my soul
And carried me into the place of hope
Ahh...
Now you'll travel on
Up into the clouds and
Down into the ground somewhere else
Play your Savior's song
Refresh them with the rain,
The way that only you
Can make that sound
When I see your face,
I get lost in time
Like a dance in rain,
You are my delight
Oooh, hallelujah!
Oooh, hallelujah!
Oooh, hallelujah!
The lightning cuts through sometimes
And the thunder shakes your sky
But, hallelujah rain
You feed the ground you find
You open weary eyes,
Giving life to life, like you have mine...
