Ember On Fire

DEEPER STILL...

When I got Ember's name, she was in utero. I felt like God was speaking to my spirit over the next few days, "There will be an almost death. Something out of your hands. But she will be fanned to life again like an ember re-ignited." I didn't know if this was spiritual, physical, whatever. Concerning, definitely. I had miscarried the baby just before her. But I found myself clinging to hope instead of worry... "...fanned to life again." When she was born, we were extra, extra thankful to have a healthy baby girl! Especially after our previous experience. Our other children came to meet their sister. So sweet how our son cried when they had to go home to bed, saying, "I just love her so much, I don't want to leave her!" The nurse said there was a murmur in her heart, but no worries because that can happen after birth and then goes away once their lungs adjust. During the night, we let the nurse station give us a quick break to get some shut-eye. She started crying. She couldn't breathe and turned blue. Next thing, they awakened me to see her outside our door in an incubator with big men hovering over her and lots of tubes sticking out of her little newborn body. "We're flying her by helicopter over to Sacred Heart hospital. She'll need specialized care. The medication will keep her lungs breathing until she can be evaluated." I was out of that bed and we were over to the other hospital. I believe God healed me quickly from birth so I could be there. We had no control, spinning, wondering. In shock. But I kept thinking about that Word... "almost death, fanned into life..." God's peace, which is beyond understanding, flooded me.
The amazing doc drew diagrams and explained that her pulmonary valve was not opening. They did a procedure ballooning it open that has made her life possible. Eternally grateful!! My singing, writing, dancing, artistic beauty. Treasure of my heart. Loving and kind. I see God in you, Ember. Getting you through hard times, nourishing you, lighting the dark around you, warming peoples' hearts... keeping the flame alive, even when you feel hidden. There are so many more wonders coming...
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him, all things hold together.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

That precious memory triggers another: your honest faith—and what a rich faith it is, handed down from your grandmother Lois to your mother Eunice, and now to you! And the special gift of ministry you received when I laid hands on you and prayed—keep that ablaze! God doesn’t want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible.

Ember On Fire
Five-point star, that's who you are
You light up everyone's day
And I can't stay jaded, dear,
When you're in my view.
You were born in glory, and you
Your eyes, warm like a sunshine Saturday
Chasing away all the bleak and the grey
How you shine!
Ember on fire , God-inspired
You're caught by wings of the dawn
And the wind of Spirit song
Yeah, you fly with me upon this legacy
Of living grace, making peace
Where you go,
Heaven unveils beauty underneath
Callus burn-out and bitter grief
You give hope
Ember on fire, God inspired
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Ooh, but song of my heart, your song undoes
The rules of time;
Your heart burns on and on in mine...
Before I saw your face,
You were here in my heart
And the Wind, it blows wherever it may go
And the fire blazes higher than you know,
Higher than you know...
Ember on fire, ember on fire
Shine your light so bright!
Ember on fire, ember on fire
Caught in God's breath....
